Frontier Days at Fort Toulouse, Wetumpka, AL
Join us for one of our most colorful field trips. Re-enactors in period dress will be encamped on the grounds. The participants are very accommodating to photographers, as they proceed to spend the day portraying 19th century life on the frontier.
The grounds open at 8:30. We ask you to gather at the Blacksmith’s Shop at 9:30 for a group photo to record the members and guests in attendance. The event continues throughout the day. Demonstrations of trades and crafts are given at various times. The participants are very knowledgeable concerning the history of the time and events involving the region. Conversation is welcome.
Bring water and snacks, if you plan to remain for a long period. Wear shoes and clothing that are comfortable for walking in meadows that have no sidewalks or manicured pathways. You may wish to venture into deeper grasses or tree lines for a rustic effect or different perspectives. Be mindful of weather forecasts if there is a chance of rain or dramatic chill in the air.
We will see you there!
